The Flagler County Sheriff's Office in the US state of Florida has officially announced the acceptance of a new police dog (K-9) donated by Summit Nutritionals, led by its Portuguese CEO, César DePaço, and president Deanna Padovani-DePaço.

The donation comes following the unexpected death of K-9 Kyro, who served the department with distinction until succumbing to a sudden medical condition.

In a letter of thanks to which the LUSO-AMERICANO newspaper had access, Sheriff Rick Staly expressed his deep gratitude for the offer, emphasizing that this contribution will allow for the acquisition of the 11th police dog financed with the support of Summit Nutritionals, headquartered in Lebanon, NJ, and operating globally. According to the sheriff, these canines have played a crucial role in public safety, assisting in the apprehension of criminals, the detection of narcotics and explosives, and the location of missing persons.

Your gesture has not gone unnoticed. These eleven extraordinary K-9 partners give our officers the ability to keep the community safe
said Rick Staly.

The sheriff also took the opportunity to reiterate that the Flagler County Sheriff's Office complies with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, maintaining active cooperation with various law enforcement agencies at all levels.

The letter concludes with sincere thanks for the county's “continued support of law enforcement and the K-9 Unit.”

The Flagler Sheriff's Office, founded in 1917, continues to serve the community from its headquarters in Bunnell, Florida.
