The history of the César DePaço family began in the township of Madalena, a small municipality located in Pico, an island belonging to the Azores Archipelago in Portugal.

It was among the Azorean islands that César DePaço spent his childhood years. He grew up and studied there until his parents divorced.

After the divorce, the mother of César DePaço emigrated to the United States of America. His father, then Head of the Azores Tax Office, remained on the Azorean island.

As a young adult, the aspiring Portuguese entrepreneur César DePaço finishes high school and heads to the United Kingdom in order to begin his academic career. César DePaço graduated in Psychology in England.

Living very close to the European continent - with a direct connection by road between the UK and France - César DePaço decided that the time had come to travel and see the world. Young and curious, the future businessman took the car that his father had offered him and set off to explore the unknown, looking for new experiences and adventures.

Whenever he needed to, César DePaço worked for the families that welcomed him. Whatever money he had left, he used to tour new cities, pay for his food, and, most importantly, the gas he needed to continue his journey.

César DePaço traveled all around, driving hundreds and hundreds of miles, experiencing dozens of lifestyles and cultures very different from his own.

After some time in Cyprus, it is on this Mediterranean island that César DePaço then decides to go further. He sold the precious car that had brought him this far and bought a one-way ticket to Australia.

César DePaço spent four years in Australia. In Perth, the Australian city considered to be the western capital of the island continent, he made a living selling encyclopedias. He was incredibly successful, particularly due to his language skills. In addition to English, César DePaço could speak native Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, and even German.

The money he gathered over those years allowed him to travel again: this time to Thailand, where he spent a period teaching psychology.

The Life of César DePaço in the United States

The life of César DePaço in the United States of America begins in Cambodia.

During the general elections in Cambodia in 1993, the Khmer Rouge movement, led by communist dictator Pol Pot, orchestrated a terrorist attack in the center of the city of Siem Reap. The attack killed two Cambodians and injured a Portuguese tourist in the head: César DePaço.

The event, naturally traumatizing, led to several conversations and requests from César DePaço's mother for her son to finally emigrate to the same country as her: the USA.

It was the mid-1990s and César DePaço's life was about to change completely, with a career move that would lead him to create and manage a multinational company: Summit Nutritionals International®.
